Natural astaxanthin raw materials
Astaxanthin is a member of the dietary carotenoids group and is widely recognized as one of the most effective and powerful natural antioxidants. Also, in addition to antioxidant properties, this substance is often used as a fat-soluble pigment, which has a deep red color

Technologies
So that you can buy high-quality natural astaxanthin in Europe, we have combined all the important components into a single process: favorable weather conditions, advanced scientific developments, modern technologies for growing algae in photobioreactors and supercritical extraction with carbon dioxide (SC-CO2).
High Quality
Industrial cultivation of microalgae and extraction of natural astaxanthin uses production techniques and equipment that comply with international and national standards for food products. A strict quality control policy at all stages of production ensures traceability of every process: from Haematococcus pluvialis strain selection and raw material analysis in an accredited laboratory, to production of natural astaxanthin and final products.
Industrial production of natural Astaxanthin
Among the variety of algae used for commercial purposes, Haematococcus pluvialis leads the way. This single-celled freshwater green microalgae are the richest source of natural astaxanthin. The ability of Haematococcus pluvialis to synthesize natural astaxanthin is the basis for the industrial production of this valuable carotenoid.
In order to obtain biomass with a high concentration of natural astaxanthin (up to 5% of dry weight), Haematococcus pluvialis strains undergo two stages during cultivation: "green" and "red" stages. Both stages take place in closed glass photobioreactors. At the beginning of the "green" stage, the most favorable conditions are created for the vegetative cells. A nutrient medium, a comfortable temperature and optimal light induce rapid growth of green microalgae colonies of Haematococcus pluvialis. After a certain interval, when the density of green cells reaches its maximum, the "red" stage starts in the closed photobioreactors. During this period, the proliferating cells are subjected to regulated stress (nutrient deficiency, high temperature, intense illumination, etc.). Under unfavorable conditions, microalgae have a defense mechanism that triggers the synthesis of natural astaxanthin.
Natural Astaxanthin or his majesty the Lord of the antioxidants
Natural Astaxanthin is a lipid-soluble pigment that belongs to a group of chemicals called carotenoids. This substance is known as the strongest naturally occurring antioxidant.
Because of the "extra" oxygen atoms in the astaxanthin molecule, this carotenoid neutralizes more free radicals than other known antioxidants. The antioxidant power of natural Astaxanthin is 550 times stronger than Vitamin E and 6,000 times stronger than Vitamin C. It is also 10 times more potent than zeaxanthin, lutein, canthaxanthin, and beta-carotene.
The special molecular structure of natural astaxanthin allows it to pass through cell membranes and maintain cellular integrity. Unlike other antioxidant molecules (beta-carotene, vitamin C, etc.), which are only inside or only outside the bi-lipid membrane, the astaxanthin molecule is found both inside and outside this membrane. This provides additional all-around protection to the cells.
